Children’s Headphones May Carry Risk of Hearing Loss

We’re seeing more and more reported incidents of hearing loss caused by listening to excessively loud music, and the damage is increasingly starting at a younger age. There are a number of safe listening claims among headphone brands, but a new study conducted by the Wirecutter highlights that half of thirty sets of children’s headphones tested did not restrict volume to the promised limit. It is both alarming and frustrating that headphones could produce sound so loud that it may be hazardous to ears in minutes, and this New York Times piece does an excellent job emphasizing the importance of protecting our youth’s hearing.
